During the meeting, ILC Deputy Secretary General Hamza Öksüz and his accompanying delegation met with Sandra Salgado, ILC Board Member and representative of USI, along with the USI leadership. The discussions focused on ILC’s upcoming initiatives, potential areas of cooperation, and ways to further strengthen trade union solidarity between the two organizations.
Highlighting the steadily growing partnership between the trade union movements of the two countries, Hamza Öksüz expressed his appreciation for the spirit of mutual support demonstrated by Turkey and Portugal in every international platform.
He also emphasized his belief that organizing an international workshop in Lisbon, hosted by the USI Confederation under the auspices of the ILC, would further deepen the bonds of cooperation and solidarity between the two organizations.
The visit reaffirmed both confederations’ shared commitment to advancing international labour solidarity and upholding the core values of justice, equality, and solidarity within the global labour movement.
