Abstract
“The global order is undergoing a profound transformation driven by economic instability, geopolitical tensions, technological change, and ecological crisis. Four decades of neoliberal restructuring have produced a structural crisis of labour, marked by deepening inequality, the erosion of collective rights, and the fragmentation of class-based solidarity. Authoritarian neoliberal governance has narrowed democratic space while expanding the global mobility of capital, intensifying precarity and exploitation, particularly in peripheral economies.

As the International Labour Confederation (ILC), we strongly condemn the military intervention carried out by the United States against Venezuela. This intervention constitutes a clear violation of the prohibition on the use of force enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, the principle of sovereign equality of states, and the most fundamental norms of international law.

“Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world… Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind… Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion… Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression… Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association… Everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring for himself and his family an existence worthy of human dignity… Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family… Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance… Everyone has the right to education… No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.”

Violence against women is a grave violation directed at women’s right to life, freedom, and human dignity. It is also a structural form of inequality that threatens social justice, the dignity of labour, social cohesion, and the sustainability of democratic life. According to United Nations data, one in every three women worldwide is subjected to violence at least once in her lifetime. This reality clearly demonstrates that violence against women is not isolated incidents but a deep-rooted and multidimensional human rights issue.

World Children’s Day on 20 November is a universal call to the collective conscience of humanity. It reminds us that every child has an equal, free, and safe right to life, while also exposing the deep global injustices we must confront.
