Statement by the International Labour Confederation (ILC) Israel’s Attacks Constitute State Terrorism: The International Community Must Break Its Silence
Israel’s violent policies show no sign of ceasing—on the contrary, they are escalating. This situation threatens not only the region but global peace and stability at large. Israel now poses a grave threat not only to the peoples of Palestine and Iran, but to the rule of international law and the shared values of humanity.
Yet Israel is not the sole source of these crimes. The impunity it enjoys is maintained by a long-standing international system of double standards, particularly among its Western allies. Israel’s attacks, rewarded with silence or justification, are serious crimes against humanity committed in full view of the world. As long as this regime of impunity persists, the legitimacy of international law will continue to erode.
The international community must now break its silence. The United Nations (UN), the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and all relevant international institutions must take clear and decisive action. Empty condemnations are no longer sufficient. Concrete measures must be taken: those responsible must be held accountable before international law, the siege on Gaza must be lifted, and Israel must be compelled to comply with international legal norms.
It is always workers, women, and children who bear the heaviest cost of war. What is destroyed under bombardment is not only infrastructure, but the right to work, social security, and a life of dignity. Israel’s attacks not only devastate Gaza and Iran but target the entire region’s labour force, productive capacities, and social solidarity.
As the ILC, we once again issue a call:
- The international community must take immediate and concrete action against Israel’s war crimes.
- International institutions must fulfill their responsibilities, and the perpetrators of these aggressive policies must be brought to justice.
As the global labor movement, we stand not with war but with peace; not with exploitation but with justice; not with destruction but with solidarity.
Lasting peace can only be built upon the will of the people, the rule of international law, and social justice. Any policy that disregards these foundations threatens not only our present, but our collective future.
