ILC Executive Board Meeting Held Online
Yalçın emphasized the importance of international solidarity, stating, “We established the ILC so that the labour movement can stand united in the face of global challenges.”
In addition to global developments, regional issues were also addressed. Yalçın evaluated international and regional efforts concerning Israel’s attacks on Iran, the clashes along the Cambodia–Thailand border, and initiatives to end the inhumane blockade in Gaza.
Representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Portugal, Thailand, and Indonesia shared updates on social dialogue processes, economic difficulties, and trade union struggles in their respective countries.
ILC Secretary General Hamza Öksüz provided information on the institution’s activities. Sharing interactive program plans with the board members, he stressed: “Every step the ILC takes will be shaped by the collective wisdom of our member confederations and the decisions of the Executive Board.” He announced that the roadmap for upcoming international programs, regional meetings, and training activities had been set. Recalling that the necessary documents for the ILO accreditation process had been submitted, Öksüz also underlined that efforts were continuing to accelerate this process.
The meeting reached consensus on steps to strengthen the institutional structure of the ILC. It was decided that in the coming period, capacity-building programs would be expanded, international cooperation enhanced, and new initiatives for regional activities launched under the authority of the Executive Board.
At the close of the meeting, all participants reaffirmed their determination to continue the common struggle for the future of the labour movement. Moving forward, the ILC will continue to contribute to the international labour movement under the motto “Together for a Just World.”
