The meeting addressed a wide range of issues, including activities carried out on the occasion of May Day, recent developments in the global world of work, the institutional agenda of the ILC, the participation process for the 114th International Labour Conference, the general challenges faced in member countries, and current developments across the world.
The meeting was attended by Ali Yalçın President of the International Labour Confederation (ILC), and Hamza Öksüz, Secretary General of the ILC. During the meeting, participants evaluated recent developments concerning working life in member countries and exchanged views on the ILC’s priorities for the upcoming period, as well as the activities to be carried out at the international level.
One of the key agenda items of the meeting was the activities organized by member confederations within the scope of May Day – International Workers’ Day. Member confederations shared information on the May Day events held in their respective countries. The main themes highlighted during these events, the core demands of workers, the messages conveyed by the trade union movement, and the social impact of these activities were discussed.
The meeting also addressed the current state of working life in member countries in light of global developments, as well as the challenges faced by workers. In this context, participants exchanged assessments on the position and future of labour in the emerging world order, particularly against the backdrop of increasing wars, geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, social justice crises, and the spread of precarious forms of employment.
The meeting further provided an opportunity to exchange views on defining the ILC’s strategic orientations for the forthcoming period.
Another important agenda item was the 114th International Labour Conference. Within this framework, the participation status of ILC members, their levels of representation, and their planned participation schedules were reviewed.
The meeting concluded with valuable views, recommendations, and contributions from member confederations. In light of the proposals put forward by the ILC family, a working calendar for the upcoming period was established.
