In their statement, the Coalition emphasized the importance of ensuring a thorough and responsible legislative process for the new law, which is intended to replace Labor Law No. 13/2003 and the Job Creation Omnibus Law (Law No. 6/2023).

The Coalition stressed that the new legislation should effectively safeguard the rights and interests of workers. It also stated that the trade union movement is prepared to mobilize on a larger scale if necessary. According to the Coalition, 50,000 trade union members have already been mobilized, with the possibility of broader participation in future actions.

The Grand Coalition, which includes ILC member organizations in Indonesia, further stated that, in accordance with the relevant ruling of the Constitutional Court of Indonesia, the new Labor Protection Law is expected to be enacted by 7 October 2026.

The ILC continues to closely follow the activities of its member organizations aimed at advancing workers’ rights, strengthening trade union rights, and promoting fair and effective labor protections.
