K-SARBUMUSI President Attends BRICS People’s Summit 2025

President of the Confederation of Muslim Workers of Indonesia (Sarbumusi), Irham Ali Saifuddin, called for a more just global governance system and emphasized that the restoration of livelihoods must be considered an essential component of Palestinian independence. His remarks were delivered during the BRICS People’s Summit 2025, held on 1–4 December in Rio de Janeiro.

Speaking on 3 December, Irham stressed that the world must bring an end to neo-colonialism, military aggression, and economic embargoes imposed by powerful states on weaker nations. “A new governance of the world order requires ending all forms of oppression, including Israel’s oppression of Palestine,” he stated.

The Summit, organized by the BRICS Civil Council, brought together civil society representatives from BRICS member states to discuss strategic multilateral issues, including economic cooperation and multipolarity, geopolitical reconfiguration, and the challenges of 21st-century global governance.

Irham highlighted that with its expanded membership representing 54.6% of the world population, BRICS has the potential to become a strategic platform for building a more just, peaceful, and inclusive international order.

Economic Recovery and Livelihood Restoration for Palestine

Addressing Osama Alhaj Ahmad, Deputy Head of the Trade Union Working Committee of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Irham urged BRICS countries to prioritize economic recovery, livelihood restoration, and integration of Palestine into global supply chains as part of the broader agenda for Palestinian independence.

He emphasized that BRICS should formulate a joint multilateral agenda not only for Palestine, but also for countries currently facing embargoes, such as Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran.

Irham further encouraged BRICS members to establish shared international standards for products and commodities, noting that existing global standards often allow powerful states to dominate and restrict the economies of weaker nations. With its demographic and economic weight, he argued, BRICS must help create a fairer global supply chain that empowers all nations.
