Official Visit of ILC to Iran
In his address, Ali Yalçın commended the contributions of the Worker’s House to its members, stating:
“We follow with great appreciation the support and services provided by the Worker’s House to its members. As ILC, we issued a solidarity declaration during the 12-day Israeli assault. Today, I would like to emphasize once again that we are determined to undertake all necessary efforts to elevate solidarity between our organizations to the highest level. It must be recognized that Israel is not only a threat to our region but also to humanity.”
Ali Reza Mahjoub, President of the Worker’s House, expressed his satisfaction with the visit, noting:
“ILC represents the truest voice of labour worldwide. As a stakeholder, we considered it our duty to take part in the establishment process of this international structure. We believe that this initiative holds historic significance for building a more just world.”
Mahjoub also underlined that the Worker’s House is ready to host ILC’s training programs and international workshops in the upcoming period.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited the facilities of the Worker’s House-affiliated consumer cooperative and received briefings on their activities.
As part of the program, the delegation also visited a primary school affiliated with the Worker’s House. Meeting with students, teachers, and administrators, Ali Yalçın addressed the children with the following words:
“I bring you greetings from your neighbors, students, and teachers in Türkiye. Your country and our region are facing unprecedented threats. Raising a generation that will be the hope of the future is our shared responsibility. Therefore, we must work harder than ever.”
Another stop of the visit was the media institutions affiliated with the Worker’s House. The delegation was briefed on the operations of the newspaper and news agency, shared Memur-Sen’s experiences in Türkiye and ILC’s activities, and gave statements to the press.
The delegation then visited the University of Applied Sciences and Technology (Worker’s House Tehran Branch). Meeting with students and faculty members, President Ali Yalçın and Secretary-General Hamza Öksüz drew attention to the importance of stability in the region:
“Together, a more just world is possible. Peace and stability in our region can only be achieved if peoples and workers stand shoulder to shoulder. Israel is a terrorist state dragging the region into instability and humanity into darkness. With this awareness, we will continue to act together.”
On the second day of the visit, the delegation attended a Symposium on “Occupational Health and Safety,” jointly organized by government, employers, and workers’ representatives.
Subsequently, meetings were held with Iranian Minister of Labour Ahmad Miri and Sadeghi FAR, President of the Institute of Labour and Social Security. Discussions centered on international trade union initiatives and bilateral cooperation. Minister Miri emphasized the importance of sharing experiences, while Sadeghi FAR provided information on their national and international activities and expressed the Ministry’s willingness to partner with ILC in future initiatives.
On the same day, the delegation visited the Turkish School in Tehran, which provides education to 50 Turkish students. Meeting with teachers, Ali Yalçın listened to the challenges faced by educators working abroad and took notes to address these issues.
The final stop of the visit was a meeting with Türkiye’s Ambassador to Tehran, Hicabi Kırlangıç, who received the delegation at his office. The discussions reviewed the outcomes of the visit and explored future cooperation opportunities. During the visits to the Embassy and the Turkish School, the delegation was accompanied by Umut Başar, the Turkish Education Counsellor in Tehran.
