ILC and OATUU Delegates Support the “Green Homeland” Campaign by Adopting Saplings

Delegates of the International Labour Confederation (ILC) and the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), who participated in the high-level strategic meeting held in Istanbul on 11 November 2025, extended their support to the “Breathe for the Future, for a Green Homeland” campaign organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye.

As part of the initiative, each delegate symbolically adopted a sapling in their name. This meaningful gesture aimed to strengthen environmental awareness and underscore the labour movement’s commitment to ecological responsibility.

ILC Secretary-General Hamza Öksüz stated, “The struggle for labour is not limited to securing fair working conditions; it also includes the responsibility to leave behind a livable world. Every sapling planted today stands as a symbol of solidarity that will breathe life into the future.”

The saplings adopted under the Ministry’s Green Homeland Initiative will contribute to expanding Türkiye’s forest resources and to the global fight against climate change.

Through this significant act, ILC and OATUU delegates fulfilled their shared responsibility toward nature and future generations, delivering a powerful message: “You Became a Breath for the Future, for a Green Homeland!”
