ILC STATEMENT ON MAY DAY- WE SHALL ACHIEVE SOCIAL JUSTICE THROUGH GLOBAL SOLIDARITY

On this May Day—celebrated with enthusiasm and unity by workers across the globe—we once again reaffirm the enduring power of solidarity and the central role of the labour movement in shaping a just and humane world.
ILC STATEMENT ON MAY DAY- WE SHALL ACHIEVE SOCIAL JUSTICE THROUGH GLOBAL SOLIDARITY

Yet, even as we celebrate, we are reminded that social injustice and labour exploitation remain deeply

entrenched across the world. Poverty, unemployment, income inequality, informal employment, forced

migration, and racism continue to affect millions, exposing the structural failures of the global system.

In a world where one in four people lacks access to the internet, the ongoing digital transformation risks

widening global inequalities even further.

Meanwhile, inflation erodes real wages, economic crises and trade wars intensify precarity, and wealth

concentration undermines social cohesion.

In such a climate of uncertainty, working people are increasingly vulnerable.

In a world still scarred by war, occupation, and genocide, it becomes ever harder to speak of justice.

We live in a time where the fight for labour rights is inseparable from the fight for the right to live in

dignity and peace.

We do not surrender to despair. We do not abandon our struggle.

As the International Labour Confederation (ILC), on this day of unity and resistance,

We renew our call saying that we will:

• continue our global struggle for social justice—without leaving anyone behind.

• stand shoulder to shoulder with all workers whose labour is exploited, whose rights are denied, and

whose dignity is under attack.

• raise our voices for all innocent people whose right to life is violated—regardless of their language,

faith, or ethnicity.

We once again strongly condemn the ongoing massacre and genocide in Gaza, now in its 19th month.

We call on the United Nations and other global institutions to act in accordance with their founding

principles and to end the silence in the face of atrocity.

We reiterate our call for justice: The state of Israel must be held accountable for its crimes.

We celebrate this 1st of May—a symbol of unity, resistance, and solidarity—and we reaffirm our

pledge:

We will continue our struggle until labour exploitation ends.

With the slogan “Together for a Just World!”,

We declare: “We will win our struggle for social justice through global solidarity.”

Long live international labor solidarity!

Long live our struggle for justice and dignity!

Long live May Day!
