OATUU Secretary General Visits ILC: Strategic Dialogue on the Global Labour Agenda
During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of structural issues exacerbating inequalities worldwide—namely, the growing prevalence of informal employment, the deepening of social and economic injustice, and the adverse impact of the climate crisis on labour conditions. Particular attention was paid to the rise of new forms of exploitation driven by rapid digitalization and the proliferation of artificial intelligence in the workplace. Both General Secretaries emphasized that the unregulated expansion of AI-powered production processes threatens job security, wage fairness, and fundamental labour rights.
While expressing strong support for technological advancement and digital innovation, the parties agreed that such progress must be aligned with the principles of social justice and decent work. They underscored the vital role that trade unions must play in ensuring that digital transformation serves the interests of workers, not capital.
The meeting also explored avenues for strengthening global trade union cooperation, enhancing collective bargaining capacities, and promoting inclusive social protections. In this context, both organizations expressed their commitment to developing joint projects and strategic partnerships to advance labour rights across regions.
Concluding the meeting, both leaders unequivocally condemned the ongoing atrocities and crimes against humanity committed against the civilian population in Gaza. They voiced deep concern over the international community’s silence and inaction, reaffirming their solidarity with oppressed peoples and their shared commitment to peace, justice, and human dignity.
